Solange spanje golven

Solange, that's me,
living in Weert and born in March 1988.

In 2006 I received my VWO-diploma at the Bisschoppelijk College in Weert, during which I most enjoyed math, biology, physics and chemistry. At home you could mostly find me on my computer making websites or homework programs, preferably with Macromedia Flash. Of course I had many other hobbies; I was a member of the Red Cross, the swimmers rescue-team, Scouting (Dutch and Canadian), and I practiced gymnastics.

During the summer time, I got out of the country as soon as possible. And those who know me, also know where I would spend at least two months of the year: in Canada, as staff at the Haliburton Scouts Reserve (the largest scout camp of Canada). Certainly you could always reach me there through snail-mail, but the mail could only be picked up once a week. It has its advantages to be in the middle of nowhere, right?

After high school, I followed the bachelor track Technische Innovatie Wetenschappen (Technical Innovaction Science) at the TU/e (Eindhoven University of Technology). Contrary to what the name of this study might suggest, it does NOT prepare you for a life as inventor. What you do learn is to analyze projects and policies from a technological (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, ...) and social (jurisdictional, financial, ....) viewpoint. Incredible interesting, but it also had one disadvantage; the summer breaks were just a bit too short for my annual trip to Canada. So after 5 years of camp staff I had to give it up, unfortunately.

Meanwhile, I have obtained a MSc. degree in Sustainable Energy Technology and simultaneously completed the Certificate program Technical Management. During this master, myself and 5 other students founded the AC-SET (Activity Committee Sustainable Energy Technology), through which we organized study related activities (excursions) and bonding activities (drinks, barbecue, ...). The committee is now ran by the next generation students. Now, after graduating and a great vacation in Spain, my fingers are starting to itch for the next challenge; an exciting job. Speaking of challenges, every Friday it is time for over a dozen Scouts to find their – and my – limits. I'm also treasurer of our scout troop. Next to scouting, my free time is mostly spend together with friends (including my Maarten of course), traveling, walking with Gin, outdoor activities, some movies, tutoring, baking cookies, cakes and pies, and occasionally a good book.

What's next? Who can tell...!
